Tumbling Class

Mommy was lucky enough to get to take Drew to his last tumbling class- love cycle break! We had a good morning and there were only a few kids there so we had plenty of room to run around. We started with the normal stretches and exercises and then it was time for all the obstacle course pieces to come out. The teacher helped Drew do a few forward rolls over the big mats, but his favorite part was the spiky balls!

Grandma, Great Grandma Rosie, & Great Grandpa Tom came over to bake cookies for the Cookiefest 2009! We started before Drew's nap so he could help out a little bit. Just another one of my wonderful plans that sounds so much better in my head than it turns out! Drew was a trooper helping me make the cakes for cakeballs. Grandma started making some chocolate chip cookies and Drew was obsessed with the mixer. He didn't always turn it on at the right time, causing a flour mess a couple times...but he had a great time! Grandma let him roll some cookies in sprinkles, but Drew wasn't happy that he had to let them bake before he could eat them. Sometimes it's hard being 2! We baked ALL DAY LONG and then Papa, Uncle Brad, and Amanda came over for a Chili Dinner. What a fun day!

Oh Christmas Tree

Drew & Daddy worked together to put the tree up and get the lights on so Mommy could hang ornaments. Drew was really into the lights, but wanted to wear them instead of putting them on the tree. What good helpers I have!

Grandma & Papa gave Drew the Mambo Combo for his birthday. It has a huge clubhouse, a tent, and two tunnels that connect. It takes up the ENTIRE loft if we get out all the pieces. Tonight we decided to put the clubhouse and tunnels together. We'll save the tent for a different day! Drew had a great time running in and out crawling all over. He even convinced Daddy to go through it a few times with him. The only bad part was explaining why he couldn't spend the night in his new clubhouse!

Jeff & I had the morning off, so we were able to take Drew to a Tumbling Class at the Renaud Center. It was very cute. Lucky for Drew Grandma has agreed to take him while we're working. The best part is Gracie & Ella are in the same class with him. Drew is a lucky little man!

We took a family trip to the Zoo since we were lucky enough to get Breckyn for the weekend. Everyone had a great time on the carousel- so great we had to ride it several times in a row. Breckyn cracked us up as she walked through the monkey house holding her nose! Papa packed a picnic lunch for everyone and we ate by the lake. Grandma found the perfect little penguin for Breckyn at Puffin Cove and she was thrilled that Grandma bought it for her. It was such a fun day!

After much searching we decided Rombach's was still the best pumpkin patch around, so we drove out to Chesterfield for the morning. Drew had a great time! When we first arrived it was still pretty chilly so there weren't many people. He had a great time with the HUGE pumpkins. He kept trying to lift them up, it was pretty funny. Then he became obsessed with finding the perfect pumpkin. Much like Grandma, he only liked the ones with really good stems! We took a family tractor ride around the property. All was good until the mom across from us in the wagon busted out some snacks. Needless to say Drew was NOT happy until we got off the tractor and found some pretzels

We took Drew to Quail Ridge Park for a Parents as Teachers "Nature Babies" morning. We had a great time. He was able to plant some grass, play with dough, make leaf rubbings, play some duck games, and go on a scavenger hunt. They had so many activities! Once he figured out we were in a park all he wanted to do was swing. So we didn't get to stay long to play with the other kids, we took a little walk to find some swings!

Sara, Gina, and I took the kids to get flu shots this morning. As a little reward we took them to Monkey Joe's afterward to let them burn off a little energy since it's so yucky rainy outside. It was Drew's first time there. He had so much fun going up and down the slide. He was a wild man. The shot must have wore him out a little bit because he was ready to go after about 30 minutes- very unusual for Drew! We took the kiddos to Pizza Street for lunch when we left. What a fun day for them!

The Easter Bunny brought Drew some fingerpaints and I am just now brave enough to get them out. In true Connie fashion I stripped Drew down to his diaper, had wet rags ready to go, and placed a huge drop cloth on the floor under his high chair. Apparently finger paints aren't near as messy as I remember them. Not only did he keep it on the paper except for a few little spots, he wasn't wild about getting his fingers messy and preferred to use the brush! There is no denying that Drew is my son! :) Here's a little video of him painting as well.

For those of you that know me well you know that this is a HUGE accomplishment for me! Not only was I able to actually find the Zoo all by myself, but I was able to stay awake in the car for more than 20 minutes. I'm not sure that has EVER happened. We had the best time. The weather was perfect, there was no one at the Zoo, and Drew was in the BEST mood. He's so much fun and today just reminded me how lucky I am to be his mommy!

Drew went shopping with me one morning. We took longer than I expected, so we ran through a drive through for some quick lunch. As I was ordering, he asked me for his hat & sunglasses. Drew loves his Papa and going to the park. Going to the park WITH Papa qualifies as a great day in his book! Brad and Breckyn met us up there. Drew ran from Papa to Grandma and back all day long. Drew's hair grows SO FAST! Lord knows we could never get him to sit down or still for a "real" haircut; so Daddy got out the clippers on the deck! Thanks to the Jasper family for letting us borrow their slide. We keep it on the deck and it's perfect for a quick burst of energy! Drew loves to slide down, but even better is to climb up the slide! We attended the annual Jasper 4th of July Party at our friend's house. It's such a fun evening and they go all out to make sure the kids have a GREAT time! This year the festivities started off with a parade. The kids decorated their bikes and wagons and we rode around the block and ended at the party. Drew rode in his wagon for the first stretch of the parade, but ended up watching it from his stroller. Once at the party we enjoyed some great dinner, tons of toys, a pinata, snow cones, snaps, sparklers, and an AMAZING fireworks display. Even the rain didn't stop us from having a great time! Drew was a trooper and made it until bedtime. We put him to bed, but he woke up when the fireworks started. He sat on Mom's lap and then my lap clapping and pointing at all the fireworks. I'm so glad he's not scare of them! :) What a great day!

Mommy and I have been working really hard on shapes and colors during her cycle break. I can say circle, but that's the only one. When all the shapes are in a big pile I can usually pick out the triangles, squares, and circles. I can also pull out red, yellow, green, or blue shapes. Just this week I finally figured out how to get all the right shapes on the right pegs. Sometimes I tease Mommy and pretend to put the wrong shape on the wrong peg. But then I just laugh and say, "noooo". She thinks it's pretty funny. Mommy is really proud of my hard work and tries to get me to show my trick to people. But I don't like to show off, so I don't show many people what I can do. Daddy said he would just take a picture and then Mommy could scrapbook it!

Wentzville Parents as Teachers had thier summer event today, Dress for a Mess. We went to Quail Ridge Park around 10. They had a pavilion all set up with each table having their own activity. I was amazed at the creative activities. Drew was still a little young to fully enjoy everything, but he had a great time. They had jello with hidden objects inside. Drew was able to take a tweezers and pick them out. There were colored spaghetti noodles to make art with, bubbles, a tub of flour and scoops, gloop, colored shaving cream, oatmeal play dough, and more. It was very fun. Mommy's favorite part was they gave her the "recipes" for all the activities! Drew's favorite was the tub of flour. He wasn't too sure about all the gooey stuff. He kept holding his fingers up saying, "help" until we would wipe it off. I can't imagine where he gets that from! :)

We finally graduated to a larger pool for Drew! The froggy pool just wasn't big enough for our little monster anymore. The best part about the new pool is that Mommy can fit in there with Drew! Papa came to help us blow it up since Daddy is in California for some training. While Drew was napping I started to fill it with water, it took forever! He was so excited when he woke up that I decided to let him take a quick dip late in the afternoon.

We had such a busy morning! By the time we got home from running errands it was almost nap time. So I made Drew a quick lunch and was cleaning up while he was eating. He ate so quiet, which is very unusual for Drew. I just figured he must have been starving. I gave him a bowl of corn with a spoon after he ate his bean tortilla. I kept hearing his spoon hit his tray as I was cleaning. I turned around to watch him and realized he was falling asleep while eating! It was so funny! He would take a bite of corn and then as he started to chew it would put him to sleep. His mouth would open and all the corn would fall out. I felt so bad for the little guy. At one point he just put his head back and gave up! Such a schedule baby! :)

Happy Father's Day to my Daddy! We got up early this morning to make Daddy a special breakfast since he had to leave at 9:00 for his trip to California. Drew picked out some special gifts to let Daddy know how much he loves him. He was very excited to give him the presents and even more excited to help him pull the tissue out of the bags! Drew is very lucky to have such a great Daddy that loves to play with him and snuggle him!

Grandma & Papa are cleaning out the basement, so they brought over a toy box with lots of Mommy & Uncle Brad's old toys. Needless to say Drew was very excited to find the new "treasures". Daddy & Drew made a bowling alley in the loft. Daddy would set up all the pins and Drew would walk all the way up to them, drop his ball, and then clap. It was too cute!

Pool Playdate- part 2

At first he liked being pulled around in the turtle- but that didn't last long. He's so tall this year that we can't even pull the shade over him. Looks like it's time for the next size up!

We had so much fun at the pool with Gracie & Ella on Thursday that we invited them back on Friday! We spent about 2 hours there and then we all had to head home for naps. The kids had a cute picnic lunch and Drew had his first Capri Sun. I think he drank the whole thing in one slurp!

We invited Gina, Gracie, Sara, and Ella to come swimming with us today. What a perfect day for the pool- it was so hot! Of course Drew just wanted to fill up and dump out his bucket, but once we were able to hide it he started to enjoy the pool a little bit more.

I was actually surprised that he was a little nervous in the water at first. He loves his little pool and the bathtub so much I thought he would be a total fish. He was fine in the shallow water, but as soon as we went into water where he couldn't touch he wasn't so sure! He was clinging to me so tight! After a few trips around the pool he started to loosen up. We decided to go back again tomorrow for some more fun. Hopefully by next week he'll be good to go!

Mommy's Boy

My sweet boy is growing up so fast! I can't believe that we took him for his 18 month check up today! He weighed in at 30 lbs and 34 inches tall (90% for his age in each). He's doing great for his age with his verbal skills, poor kid has a teacher for a mom, and is right on track with his motor skills. Bascially he's a happy healthy little man with two very lucky parents. I was trying to get a cute picture of us for the scrapbook- but my little man was feeling a bit silly! :)

Summer Fun!

I came home from shopping to find Daddy and Drew playing in the front yard. Daddy had the patio umbrella in the yard to give our fair skinned little guys some shade and the Elmo sprinkler (thanks Aunt Michelle) was right in the middle. Drew was so excited he just kept saying, "Elmo" over and over. Of course that entertainment lasted all of about 10 minutes and then he was ready to move on. So we broke out the big bubble wand. He chased the bubbles almost two houses down before he realized that more were coming behind him. He was trying so hard to blow some big bubbles just like Daddy, but kept putting his mouth too close and popping the bubbles. So we found his battery bubble blower- which was PERFECT! Daddy dipped it into the bubbles and then Drew could push the button to blow the bubbles. He was in heaven. Grandma and Papa stopped by to say hello and the neighbors walked over. Drew loves visitors! We even ended up getting the pool out to catch all the water from the sprinkler, our lawn chairs were sinking by the second!

Drew came out a noisy baby. There's no doubt he's 100% boy and LOVES loud noises. He's not afraid of anything that makes a loud or sudden noise, in fact he's attracted to it! Not only does he love noisy things; but he loves MAKING loud noises. He's constantly banging and slamming things around. Papa has called him Bamm Bamm for these very reasons. So, when I was shopping the other day and found this shirt- it was just too perfect!

We stopped by the lake for a picnic lunch. They loved watching the duck as they ate.

We've been working on learning our shapes and I think Drew finally has the circle down pat! We give him his big tub of shapes and then if I ask him to pull out the circles he climbs into his rocking chair and lines them up on the arm. It's pretty cute. Usually if I ask him to pull out a red or a green he will even get the colors right. We're pretty sure he's gifted! :)

They had fountains that shot water out at random. Mommy left the water shoes back at the hotel, so we just let him play in his clothes and put his swim trunks on later. Little backwards! He LOVED these things. We have some great video!

We decided to take Drew on a short weekend trip to test the waters and see what traveling with our little man would be like. We convinced Mom, Dad, Brad, Breckyn, and Brad's girlfriend Amanda to go along with us. We loaded up two cars and headed down to Branson for a long weekend. We had a condo with a couple bedrooms and a kitchen which was great since the kids were pretty tired at dinner time. We played at the pool and had a PERFECT 8 hour day at Silver Dollar City. Breckyn and Drew had a great time on the kid rides and Amanda & Jeff were in contest to see who had the stronger stomach on the adult rides- it was a tie. Drew LOVES helping water the flowers on the deck, even if there isn't a hose attached! If the neighbor dog comes out, that's even better. He gets the biggest kick out of waving to the dog. You'll also notice the newest "face". Not only do we have an "ugly" and "happy" face; but also an "ohhh" face. It generally comes out when he's in trouble or needs to make you laugh. Of course it always works! The last picture still cracks me up. For whatever reason he thinks it's great when we start to drain the pool water and claps. Of course when we go to pull him out he has a total meltdown...

Papa keeps a special drawer with "Drew snacks" stocked and Drew NEVER forgets to make a quick snack stop when visiting Papa's office in the basement! That might be why he starts clapping as we pull into Papa's driveway! :)

Jeff and Drew had their first official day off together! They met Mom & Breckyn at the neighborhood pool for a quick dip. Drew was in true form- snacking!

Little Fish!

My little man is such a fish! He LOVES being in the water! We drug out the "froggie" pool from last summer. He's SO much bigger this summer! He was very cute watching Jeff fill up the pool and then couldn't wait to get in. I kept asking him to smile and show me his happy face. He gave me a face, just not the cute one I was hoping for!

Drew LOVES eating bananas, but tonight he insisted on holding it himself. It was pretty funny. Here's a couple pictures, but the video is the best part!

Daddy called to say "Hi" while we were swinging. Drew didn't want to get out to talk to him, instead he just grabbed the phone and started jabbering away!

Workin' Man

As soon as we sit down to get something done in the office, along comes our little helper. He loves to draw and is constantly trying to grab pens, pencils, and highlighters from the drawers. So Jeff brought up my old desk and we put it in the office. Drew thought he was big stuff!

Waterboy

We visited some friends over the long weekend and they had a water table. Drew instantly began splashing and didn't stop until the table was empty! We knew he loved water, but holy moly!! When he started he had his hat and sunglasses on. He quickly figured out he couldn't get his face far enough into the water without hitting the bill of his hat on the bottom of the water table. So, off went the hat and glasses! Here are some pics and a couple quick videos of our little waterboy!

Who Spilled the Beans?

Drew loves "scooping" things from one container to another. So I filled a tub with dried beans and gave him some "tools". He had to sit on some old towels because he kept dropipng them through the deck. He played for so long, it was great!

I see lots of scooping in his future!

I'm finally giving in and starting a blog for the three of us. Drew is so much fun, I can't help but want to share all of our great stories with everyone. I'm so amazed at how much he's changing and I get to see him every day! Hopefully I'll be able to figure out how to upload pictures and videos and you'll be able to watch him grow right along with us!
